In this video we’ll be talking about the Metropolitan Museum of Art The MET in New York City Keep watching for tips and meet me at the MET The MET represents over 5,000 years of art from around the world. The museum is made up of three sites in New York City The MET Fifth Avenue, the MET Breuer , and the MET Cloisters We will only be discussing the MET Fifth Ave For information on the MET Breuer and Cloisters, visit’s New York attraction page under MET the MET is located on the Upper Eastside in a mostly residential neighborhood and next to Central Park. If you’re coming from the east side of Manhattan then take the 6 train to 77th St. the walk about two blocks west to Madison Avenue and then two blocks south to 75th street to the Museum, or You can take the m1, m2 , m3 or m4 bus along Madison Avenue from downtown locations to 75th street or along Fifth Avenue from Uptown location to 75th street. If you’re coming from the Westside of Manhattan then you need to take the one train to 79th street and then take the m79 crosstown bus to Central Park Or you can take the C train to 81st street then take the m79 bus across Central Park to Madison Ave. For detailed information go to’s attraction page on the MET You can get tickets to the MET at the museum ticket counters or online in advance. If you buy tickets at a museum ticket counter, the amount you pay is what you can afford there is a suggested admission fee for adults and free for children under 12 One of the highlights of the MET is the Egyptian Art Wing. The Egyptian Art wing has over 40 Egyptian galleries. The centerpiece of Egyptian Art Wing is the Temple of Dendur which was gifted to the United States by the Egyptian government. It is in a large room surrounded by reflecting pool and a wall of large windows with a view of Central Park. The MET also houses 2500 European paintings by renowned artists such as Auguste Renoir, Johannes Vermeer, and Henri Matisse. The American Wing now houses the world’s most comprehensive collection of American paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts There are so many things to see in the MET. You can combine this with the walk through Central Park. Many of the beautiful parts of Central park are located by the museum like the Reservoir , the Great Lawn and the Lake area. Wear good shoes the museum is large. If you have time and energy, the museum is located in a residential area so it’s nice to stroll along the street to see how people live in the city.
