Find where the middle of the face will be and draw a line Draw a large circle with a smaller circle underneath it Draw a horizontal line through them to divide each circle in half Create an outline around the circles you initially sketched to get the general shape of the lion’s head and chin The nose, eyes, eyebrows and cheekbones will be added later to the guidelines we’ll create Draw 3 horizontal lines through your general shape The eyes will be between the upper two lines and the lower line will be the top of the nose Add the eyes, pupils, and cheekbone areas. Draw the nose in the triangle you created earlier The tip of the nose will be located in this area Erase your guidelines. Begin adding nostrils, irises and highlight the cheekbones Finish by drawing the crease of the upper eyelid and the eyebrows Now let’s color your lion with vibrant Real Brush Pens! The eyes are the most expressive part of the lion’s face We suggest starting with the eyes to make the picture look more “alive” To get the full effect of Real Brush Pens, you need to add water You can use either a Water Brush Pen or an ordinary watercolor brush dipped in water It’s easy to draw details with Real Brush Pens. Start outlining the lion’s hairs on dry paper Remember, Real Brush Pens are made of synthetic fibers not natural ones, so the colors will appear brighter The general rule is to mix warm shades with warm tones, and cool shades with cool tones to avoid muddy tones in your picture We recommend using the color wheel to find the right combination of colors. It’s best to mix similar colors and shades with each other To create a gradient, start by picking two colors that complement each other. On one side, paint with one color. Then take another color and start painting the other side, moving towards the middle. Darken the shades and mix the colors in the middle Add volume and dimension with thicker lines and darker colors When adding water to the Real Brush Pens, they’ll become lighter in tone Dilute them slightly with a Water Brush to create midtones Don’t use too much water to dilute the ink, otherwise the colors next to each other will mix and the borders will become fuzzy Use a small brush if you need to dilute a very small area such as the lion’s eyes and nose The lion is drawn using the glazing technique. When the paper is completely dry, draw details on top with other colors or you can even use white acrylic paint We hope you enjoyed this video and that you learned something new!
